Last evening I went to the Y and realized there was a class starting soon, so I took my water bottle and towel and went to one of the aerobic rooms and did a 45 minute strength training aerobics class. It went really well. So glad I have been working out for a long while. Some women came up to me after class, I was using 12 lb. weights for the heavy part, I usually use 15 for bicepts, anyway, they said, "here I was trying to use my little three pound weight and there you are with a ten pounder like it's nothing.." Made me smile. I wasn't going to tell them it was a 12 pounder. Really worked out hard. I think I needed that. I have a good workout plan for the weight room and eliptical and treadmill, but working out to a beat to keep up really does work you out quite a bit. Then I found out that every class at the Y except Yoga and Karate, Tai Chi and Jujitsu were free! I can drop in anytime I want! YAY!!
One more good thing about staying at the Y.
Didn't make it to the ceramics studio yesterday, I'm shooting for today. I have errands to run and then Weight Watchers tonight. Yesterday on my way into town I stopped at Playmore Lanes, a bowling alley, they had a special on Tuesdays where you could bowl for $1 per game and $.50 for shoes. I thought that I would get in a little practice for the next time Bob and I go bowling (which has been years). Back in Iowa, I would go to the Archery range (I now have one in my back yard thanks to some friends!), or on sunny summer days I would go out to Pollmiller park and rent a boat for $5 an hour and $1 admission and row out to the middle, stop and write. Very self soothing, something I need to concentrate on sometimes. I asked Playmore if the special was still on and they said that it ended at Christmas. I asked what their normal rates were, $4 per game and $1 for shoes, so for $5 a week, that could be a self-soothing activity that isn't very expensive, also a great date-night activity. (i just kind of want to build up a decent percentage before we go on a "date") What a miracle, she learned how to bowl!
So, free aerobics classes and core building, strength training, boot camp, etc. looking forward to the classes to jump start my metabolism for no other out put of money other than my membership.
I have been reading more and more of Dave Ramsey's book and am so excited to start paying down our debt. It is not nearly as bad as it could be. But we have a debt reduction snowball chart and know when each bill will be paid off. One in February, take that money and put it toward the personal finance debt (dentist) until that is paid in April, take both totals and put toward a credit card that will then be paid off in June. We cut all but one credit card up and that one is for emergencies only. It feels very good to not have that temptation in my wallet.
It is a beautiful day to get out and do some errands, finish washing the clothes, work on a portrait and send off a book. The saying "all good things come to those who wait" was altered to say, "All good things come to those who hustle while they wait." Let's get going!
Have a great day!
